The UK submitted a proposal to ISO TC 38/SC1 concerning an equation for calculating the staining scale rating from CIELAB values. The document was circulated as 381/N 717 and was discussed by WG7 in the course of the meeting in Copenhagen in June 1981 when it was agreed that it should become a test under consideration. A further report has now been prepared and has been circulated to all members of TC38/SC1 for comment. This is now published in order to obtain comments from a wide section of industry in the United Kingdom.
