The synthesis and characterization of a number of 3–[N–(3′–aminopropyl)carboxamido]–4–arylazopyrazolone dyes is described. Under Thermosol dyeing conditions, a certain amount of covalent bonding occurs between the dyes and polyester fibre via transamidation.
