Consideration is given to four economic aspects, viz. investment requirement, fixed charges, operating costs and product value and a profile is presented for two printing systems ‐ rotary screen and transfer (Figure 1). A comparison is made between the different printing methods on the basis of a modern plant, with a capacity for producing 6 million yards p.a. on three shift operation and assuming an average four‐colour design on 62‐in wide polyester fabric.
