The development of vapour–phase transfer printing of textiles is reviewed with reference to published sources. A broad approach to the interacting technologies is adopted and includes a description of dye selection, ink formulation, fabric choice, paper technology and the equipment used to print both the paper and the fabric. An attempt is made to evaluate possible future developments.
