The possible processing stages that a carpet containing a new fibre might require in winch dyeing are examined from a practical point of view. Important factors, e. g. pH control, dye selection and colour correction, are considered. An attempt is made to show that what may be considered simple and straight forward processing stages in the laboratory or pilot–plant scale can assume much greater significance and become more involved when translated to bulk working.
