The development of the high–temperature dyeing of knitted fabrics is outlined up to the introduction of the jet–dyeing system. The basic principles underlying the jet–dyeing machine are described and the Ventura machine (Platt–Longclose) is used to show how these have been dealt with in practice. The construction of auxiliary equipment for this machine is then described, particular attention being paid to control equipment. Finally, the general conditions for the dyeing of different fabrics are defined.
