The bleaching of wool by padding with hydrogen peroxide and steaming has been studied. The effects of peroxide concentration, stabilisers, and the pH of the pad‐bath on the properties of bleached wool have been examined; the effect of the steaming time has also been determined. Favourable conditions for imparting a good bleaching effect without significant degradation of the fibre have been determined.
