Condensation with arylamines of a series of 4‐substituted 1‐chloro‐2‐nitrobenzenes and of 2‐substituted l‐chloro‐4‐nitrobenzenes has been used to prepare nitrodiphenylamine dyes. Some 102 dyes, containing various electron‐donor and electron‐acceptor groups in the nitrated and in the unnitrated ring, are described.
