Jigger–process theory has been extended to a study of the kinetics of rinsing a non–substantive solute out of a fabric. The precise expressions derived have been used to check a simplified and approximate set of relationships, which have been shown by experience to be a useful working tool in the hands of a dyehouse technologist. With suitable modification the approximate theory has also been applied to the kinetics of impregnation and to the change of temperature of the fabric roll during processing. Finally, experimental observations on rinsing, analysed by the approximate theory, afford the most convenient method of determining the essential jigger parameters
