The reactions which take place between monochloro‐ s ‐triazine dyes and certain tertiary amines under homogeneous alkaline conditions have been studied, and the results obtained have been related to practical fixation behaviour in the pad–batch(cold) dyeing method. It is concluded that the use of catalytic fixation methods may be restricted owing to problems of dye compatibility, which are much more pronounced than when uncatalysed fixation methods are employed.
