Fibre blends are of importance in the carpet industry not only for economic reasons but also because of their influence on carpet performance and overall value. The application to carpet blends of recent developements in scouring and dyeing techniques, including modifications to processing machines, is commented on, and details of specific methods are given for various blends. Reference is made to the developement of “scourless” lubricants in the processing of carpet yarns on the woollen system. Methods of particular interest include the dyeing under acid conditions of blends of wool and Fibro, the use of solvents for dyeing blends of Celafibre and nylon, the application of reactive dyes to blends of Fibrolane and Fibro, and the single‐stage dyeing method using direct and basic dyes for blends of Courtelle and Fibro. Brief reference is made to the piece‐dyeing of carpets containing a blend pile of Courtelle and Fibro and to the possible use of a spraying technique for dyeing carpet pile consisting of a Fibrolane and nylon blend
