The dyeing processes of antiquity employed in the Oriental rug‐weaving centres are described, and developments in this country of dyeing methods and equipment reviewed. The significance of the various operations employed in the production of hank‐dyed and predyed carpet‐pile yarns is discussed. Mention is made of several factors peculiar to the carpet industry.
