The President said that it was the exprew desire of the founder of the Meroer Lectures that the lecturers should be selected from among the younger members of the craft. Thatprinciple governed the choice of speakere at the first two Mercer Lectures, and wes againbeing observed that evening. The distinction had onoe more been accorded to one of the y unger members of the industry, Mr. D. Entwistle, whose record has shown him to be well worthy of the honour.
