Summary In an earlier paper 1 the author showed that the change of shade of dyeings of vat and azoic dyes on soaping is due to a transition of the dye particles from the amorphous to the crystalline state. Additional evidence is now produced, and it is shown thattwo vat dyes deposited in the fibre simultaneously can combine on soaping to form a crystalline system different from that of the respective individual dyes.
