A brief account of the background which influenced B.K.S. Surveys Limited to introduce an integrated digital mapping package is presented, followed by an outline of the features of the Wildmap system. The specific photogrammetric hardware configuration and production procedure adopted by B.K.S. are also described. Résumé Cet article donne un rapide compte‐rendu des conditions environnantes qui ont conduit la Société B.K.S. Surveys Limited à se doter d'un ensemble intégré de cartographie numérique. II fournit également un aperçu des caractéristiques du système Wildmap et une description de la configuration particulière du matériel photogrammétrique et de la méthodologie adoptée en production par B.K.S. Zusammenfassung Kurze Darstellung von Hintergrundinformationen, die B.K.S. Surveys Ltd. bei der Einführung eines integrierten Programmpakets zur digitalen Kartenherstellung beeinflussten und Skizzierung der Grundzüge des Wildmap‐Systems. Ausserdem werden die spezielle photogrammetrische Hardware und die bei B.K.S. angewandte Technologie beschrieben.
