Much has been said and written about the techniques of photogrammetry in the field of survey, and in particular great inroads have been made by air survey into the sphere of civil engineering. This paper primarily deals with the use of the photogrammetrist's work in departments of British Railways, especially in that of a Regional Chief Civil Engineer. It is not the intention of the author to deal with any of the intricate technicalities of the science of photogrammetry, and no attempt is made in this paper to engage in its technical area of operations.
