This paper describes a method for the thermal processing of fine‐grained oil shales in order to extract from them petroleum products. The process, called the ‘Galoter’ process combines oil shale fines with a solid heat carrier and makes possible the extraction of petroleum from oil shales which cannot be processed by any other method. The Galoter process is applicable to many oil shale deposits.
