The secretion of sympathetic neurotransmitter in guinea-pig vas deferens appears to be normally controlled by two different mechanisms, one dependent and one independent of prostaglandin E. The efficiency of both control systems, as well as of exogenous prostaglandin E(2), is inversely related to nerve stimulation frequency.
