Dyflos (di iso propylphosphorofluoridate, DFP) retards the synthesis of lipid in the sciatic nerve of the chicken in vivo. A similar inhibition occurs in vitro , but only at relatively high concentrations (10 −3 m ) of the drug. The major portion of the 14 C supplied as acetate, and incorporated into lipid, is found with the fatty acids. Attempts to separate the lipids involved by paper chromatography were unsuccessful.
