Paton and Zaimis (1951) have shown that the pressor response to intravenously injected nicotine may be abolished by a previous injection of hexamethonium and that the principal action of this compound is in blocking autonomic ganglia. The experiments reported here were designed to investigate the effects of methonium compounds on another action of nicotine, namely its power to provoke convulsions.
