Cast in the form of a Socratic dialogue, the author argues that only a world‐State, oppressive at first, can now save mankind from self‐destruction. But not all men agree that their species should at all costs survive. If, therefore, a pro‐survival group is to gain the power to have its way, it must offer a vision of life under the proposed State so different and inspiring as to win a decisive number to its cause.
