A structural model for the eye was tested using refractive component data for 42 emmetropic eyes (−0.50 to +1.50 D) and 42 eves having front 5.00 to 7.00 D of myopia. Parameter estimates derived by applying the structural model to emmetropic eyes and to myopic eyes demonstrated that; I common model described the two types of eyes, but that emmetropic eyes and myopic eyes could be considered to belong to statistically discrete populations. Cornea] radius and vitreous chamber depth were the most important components determining refractive state.
