— A design is introduced for soft contact lenses of negative power, having a lenticular anterior surface and a conicoidal posterior surface. Mathematical formulae are derived to calculate the lens volume. The design results in a reduction in lens volume, especially for high powers, while potentially allowing a good fit to the individual cornea to be achieved.
