It was confirmed that the Dioptron II returned a mean spherical equivalent of the order of one‐tenth of a dioptre more myopic than an independent subjective result. In contrast to data from another objective technique, retinoscopy, we found no evidence from a sample of 379 eyes that this discrepancy varied with age.
