Some years ago, a requirement existed for the development of a transducer of the LVDT type having the greatest possible sensitivity and of the smallest possible size. It was developed by a purely intuitive process and resulted in a series of devices having a variety of practical applications. In particular, its use as an extensometer could be of interest in the field of strain measurement.
