Poisson's ratio has been measured in solution annealed stainless steel type 316, under elastic and plastic deformation, using Moire interferometry. The aim of the study was to evaluate the validity of expressions for calculating the shift in the value of Poisson's ratio, from its theoretical elastic value to its plastic value, as a function of strain.
