The visco‐elastoplastic stress concentration in a strip with a circular hole has been investigated for various rates of increase of stress by means of the photo‐rheological method, using specimens of celluloid at 65d̀C. The stress concentration factors at the stress raiser are considerably influenced by the stress rate. Such an effect cannot be analysed by ordinary photoplasticity in which the time effect is not taken into account.
