The design and development of Manganin wire sensors for use at pressures up to 200 000 lbf/in 2 (1.38 GN/m 2 ) is described and data presented for an alternative wire, Zeranin. A brief description of suitable bridge and digital read–out systems is given together with the design of a resistance strain gauge transducer suitable for control applications.
