Methods are described for reliable strain gauge measurement during water pressure tests on site‐built vessels. For efficient and economic waterproofing the gauge is pre‐encapsulated in epoxy resin before being bonded to the structure. The additional mechanical protection makes the method particularly suitable for site application.
