Summary.1 The following five races of C. sovimanga are recognized:C. s. sovimanga (Gmelin), Madagascar (except south‐east) and Gloriosa Island; C. s. apolis Hartert, south‐eastern Madagascar; C. s. aldabrensis Ridgway, Aldabra Island, Aldabra Archipelago; C. s. abbotti Ridgway, Assumption Island, Aldabra Archipelago; and C. s. buchenorum nem‐ race, Cosmoledo Islands, Aldabra Archipelago.2 Attention is drawn to birds from Astove Island, Aldabra Archipelago—none of which are available for study—which may prove to be an undescribed race linking C. sovimanga and C. comorensis .
