SUMMARY 1. Biology of the Hadedah in Cape Province is described with special reference to roosting and flocking. The birds are not strongly territorial, and at all times are amicable. 2. Main breeding season October‐November, with occasional double broods. 3. Incubation period 26 days, both parents sharing incubation. 4. Nestling period about 33 days, both parents feeding young by regurgitation. 5. Mortality of nestlings, by falling out of nests, is remarkably high. 6. Food consists of insects, millipedes and earthworms.
