Creatine‐sucrose agar is used as a diagnostic medium in Penicillium taxonomy. Different new formulations of the medium were compared to the original. A simpler medium avoiding pH adjustments is suggested. Other formulations of the medium could supplement the information given by the original formulation especially at pH 6 or 9, at lower C/N ratios, or fructose as C‐source.
