A modified direct detection system was developed to identify the antimicrobial peptide, pediocin AcH in SDS‐PAGE. The gel containing pediocin AcH was stained for 30 min, destained for 1.5 h, and then overlaid with indicator bacteria. The pediocin AcH band was identified by a zone of inhibition of bacterial growth surrounding the stained protein band.
