Aggregation of the yeast Saccharomycodes ludwigii NCYC 734 was examined. Aggregation was expressed throughout growth, involved surface proteins, required calcium ions, and was specifically inhibited by D ‐galactose, D ‐fucose, and L ‐arabinose. This is consistent with lectin‐mediated yeast flocculation and represents the first report of flocculation in this yeast genus.
