—The metabolism of free amino acids: γ‐aminobutyric acid (GABA), glutamine, glycine and glutathione has been studied. The labelling of these free amino acids in normal and in myelin‐deficient brains of Jimpy mice was followed after intraperitoneal injection of 14 C‐labelled glucose precursor. The quantitative distribution of these amino acids in the two kinds of mouse brain has been compared. A higher level of GABA and a faster labelling of the amino acids in Jimpy than in normal mouse brain was observed.
