SUMMARY Ribosomal RNA from rat brain has been partially purified by sodium dodecyl‐sulphate treatment of microsomes, and density gradient centrifugation. The apparent half‐life of ribosomal RNA after labelling with a pyrimidine precursor was 6 days. Classes of ribosomal RNA with longer half‐lives could not be excluded. There was evidence for re‐utilization of the labelled precursors.
