Summary Serial changes in 24‐hour creatinine clearance were determined in 10 healthy women during late pregnancy and after the puerperium. A decrease occurred in all subjects during the six weeks preceding delivery, so that mean values for the last three weeks of pregnancy did not differ from the non‐pregnant mean. Possible reasons for this phenomenon and its clinical implications are discussed.
