Summary Assessment of liver damage by estimation of serum enzymes including lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and its hepatic fraction, LDH5, was made in 60 normal pregnant women, 20 patients with pre‐eclampsia and 10 with eclampsia. Definite evidence of damage was found in patients with pre‐eclampsia and eclampsia and was related to the severity of the disease.
