Summary Serum potassium and blood sugar concentrations were measured in six patients treated with oral salbutamol to inhibit premature labour. The fall in serum potassium and rise in blood sugar were variable and not present in every patient. The values returned to the normal range usually within 72 hours of continuous usage of the drug.
