Summary A review of 186 cases of breech presentation with a corrected perinatal mortality rate of 0.54 per cent is presented. Details of paediatric follow‐up are given. Careful selection of patients for vaginal delivery and the liberal use of Caesarean section are advocated. The importance of asphyxia as the main danger of breech delivery is emphasized and the use of fetal blood sampling as a practicable method of detecting early asphyxia is discussed.
