Summary A study was made of seromucoid in pregnancy, both in the absence and in the presence of complicating factors. Maternal serum seromucoid was raised in normal pregnancy and was significantly higher in primiparae than in multiparae. The seromucoid levels of amniotic fluid and cord serum were both about half the maternal value and were not affected by parity. In complicated pregnancies the maternal serum, amniotic fluid and cord levels of seromucoid were mainly normal, but the maternal serum level was significantly raised in essential hypertension and pre‐eclamptic toxaemia.
