Summary The experience gained in using the cervical vibrator therapeutically in 250 labours is reviewed. The instrument is considered to be a valuable additional aid for expediting labour in appropriate circumstances, and for facilitating the taking of fetal scalp blood samples. The follow‐up of 33 patients who have had 36 subsequent pregnancies has not revealed any abnormality attributable to cervical vibration in the earlier pregnancy.
