Summary A case of rupture of an endometriotic cyst in late pregnancy is reported. This is a rare problem giving rise to an acute abdomen with a clinical picture similar to abruptio placentae. Points in differential diagnosis and management are discussed normal ovary. There would seem to be no justification for immediate radical surgery in such cases.
