Summary A study was made of 347 rhesus negative women with no antibodies who gave birth to a rhesus positive baby and were given 250 μg. of anti‐D gamma globulin within 48 hours of delivery; in 36 of the patients attempts at external version had been made during pregnancy. Four patients were found to have antibodies at six months or more after delivery and in none of them had external version been attempted. Thirteen patients in the external version group had a further rhesus positive baby without developing antibodies during pregnancy.
