Summary By the extra–amniotic administration of prostaglandin E 2 and prostaglandin F 2 α gels, abortion was successfully induced in 20 patients in the second trimester of pregnancy. The mean induction to abortion intervals for the fourteen patients treated with prostaglandin E 2 gel and for the six patients treated with prostaglandin F 2 α gel were respectively 11.5 and 17.6 hours.
