Summary A synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F 2α was successfully used to induce abortion in six patients, five of whom were in the second trimester of pregnancy. Five of the patients had a complete abortion and in one the abortion was incomplete. The mean induction‐abortion interval was 25 hours 15 minutes, ranging from 7 hours 45 minutes to 49 hours 30 minutes. The side‐effects were similar to those reported with natural prostaglandin F 2α .
