Summary Synthetic LH‐releasing hormone (LH‐RH) was used as a pituitary function test in amenorrhoeic women. A dose of 12.5 μm U g. was administered intravenously and serum LH was measured by radioimmunoassay before and at 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes after injection. Four principle types of reaction were defined and correlated with the therapeutic response to ovulation‐inducing compounds.
