Summary TRIC agents were isolated by egg culture from the genital tract of 10 women out of 41 studied. Four isolates were obtained from 24 women having evident cervical or vaginal lesions, 3 from 6 mothers of infants with ophthalmia neonatorum due to TRIC agents, and 3 from 11 women without evident gynaecological abnormality. There was one case of carcinoma of the cervix and TRIC agents were demonstrated in her cervical scraping by both egg culture and the finding of inclusion bodies.
