summary The uterine muscle stimulating activities of the 15‐methyl analogues of naturally occurring prostaglandins E 2 , and F 2α , in the second trimester of pregnancy have been investigated. Prostaglandins 15(S) 15 methyl E 2 , methyl ester and 15(S) 15 methyl F 2α , (free acid) when administered by the intravaginal, intra‐amniotic and intramuscular routes are effective abortifacients. The human uterine muscle stimulating potencies and duration of actions of these compounds when compared with the parent prostaglandins E 2 , and F 2α , are greatly increased.
