Summary Women within one week of delivery had larger kidneys than the normal for their body height. Shrinkage of renal length of 1 cm. occurred over a period of six months. Non‐obstructive dilatation of the lumbar segment of the right ureter was invariably demonstrated in the early puerperium, and dilatation of the left ureter was often present.
